Dear Dr. Dai:
I am very encouraged by your article about your pursuit to master and Ph.D. degrees. I am a 5-year college graduated about 15 years ago. Unlike your parents, my mother discouraged me to have higher degree(because I am a 'DAUGHTER'). She thought she could give me a better future by "pushing" me a prestigeous commercial college even though I could've gone to the top 3 public sr. high school. Over the years, whether or not I was overseas or in Taiwan, I always try my best to take courses in order to make my work better. However, I still don't have any "official" bachelor degree. Time passes by and I found out that I am weakening in memories now after I have two children.
I am a Christian too. After becoming a Christian several years ago while in Hongkong, I decided to give my desire of receiving bechelor degree to God because He is my master of life. Every Christian should follow Jesus Christ's way and obey His will. I don't know if this is the God's will to finish my bachelor degree but it seems that every time I tried my best to study at any academic institution, either I got car accident or I was sick.
Dr. Dai, I do admire your persistance in doing what is right, especially your idea in education. I know that those who have setback or so-called "failure" in their lives tend to have better understandings and sympathy for those who have the same experience. I thank to God that you are doing such work to encourage more young people to have better idea of themselves and think positively of their situations. We are just humble men in the world. We can't even say we can control our lives or future. Life is so fragile─ the Lord can give and the Lord has taken away (JOB 1:21).
Thanks for your article and your encouragement (by your article). By the way, it's tremondous hard for a Chinese student who can obtain Ph.D. degree in oral communication. Thanks to God that He really testify in your life.
