Chicago & North Western is my favorite railroad in America. C&NW was named in 1859 and has never changed until the merge with the Union Pacific in 1995. The most famous trains run by C&NW are the "400" passenger trains. They were named "400", because C&NW had an advertisement in 1935:
¡@From Chicago to Twin Cities,
¡@Not more than 400 miles,
¡@Not more than 400 Minutes!
Many people like this great solgan. Therefore, C&NW used 400 for the names of its many trains such as Kate Shelley 400, Dakota 400, Twin Cities 400....etc.
This is a webside dedicated to my beloved railroad, the C&NW. I would like to name it as "Route of the 400" for those memory which I have during my stay and visit on C&NW territory in late 1990s.
